Student Spotlight
Each month, SACTA highlights one of its students who has demonstrated exemplary character on and off the tennis court.
This month we spotlight Avery Harris!
Avery Harris is a recent honor graduate from Milton High School in Alpharetta, Georgia. While at Milton, Avery was a member of the Chick-Fil-A Leadership, HOSA, and the Varsity Tennis team. She was recognized as a positive student-athlete and received the Coach's Award and Love of the Game tennis award. Avery is excited to be attending Fort Valley State University in the fall, majoring in elementary and special education, where she will also be a member of the women's tennis team.
Avery was introduced to the game of tennis by her grandmother at a very young age. Often, she would accompany her grandmother to her USTA and ALTA matches. Soon after, she began learning the game with the South Atlanta CTA & NJTL. However, It wasn't until high school that she considered herself a tennis player versus someone that played tennis. Avery's connection to the game changed. So much of what she learned has helped her on and off the court.
Avery learned to trust the process, to persevere, and that a good foundation in anything she does is vital to success. Avery is looking forward to the next chapter and she's elated that tennis will be a part of that journey.
